For, I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3
Self-esteem has been defined as how you feel about yourself. If I came to your home for a visit todayand asked you to write down all of your good qualities, how long would it take you to come up with your list. What if I asked you to list all of your negative or bad qualities. Which question would give you the most trouble?
Women in our society usually have self-esteem problems. Low self-esteem breeds victimization, distorted and ruined relationships, and failure in the workplace.
A group of boys got together to form a club. They talked about what the rules for their club would be and, after much thought, came up with this list:
1. Nobody act too big.
2. Nobody act too small.
3. Everybody act medium.
I like those rules. Healthy self-esteem frees us to be “medium”-without superiority or inferiority feelings, honest about weaknesses and proud of strengths, and secure in the worth that comes from being a child of God.
Thought: My goal today will be to see myself as God sees me and to love myself anyway-like God loves me.
