The Best Father

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Ephesians 3:20

One of the biggest problems with a woman’s image of God is confusing Him with her earthly father. We find  in counseling that the more godly the client’s father was, the easier it is for the client to trust and rely on God. But the reverse is also true. Women with inadequate fathers have a hard time relating to a heavenly Father.

Many women have grown up with no father, or their father was uncaring and detached. But God knows when each of us gets up and when we go to bed. He knows every word we speak and even understands our every thouight.

Earthly fathers who are inconsistent produce insecure children; their children can’t depend on them. But God is consistent. He is never moody, always faithful, never changing. We can be secure in Him.

Many women felt, while growing up, that their fathers were too busy to meet their needs. But God is completely capable to fulfill every obligation. He is a kind of parent every child longs for-and each of us can trust.

Thought:  God is everything I need in a father. I will learn to trust in Him.
