Spending Time Wisely

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand.

Psalms 31:14-15

Imagine that you received a letter coming in the mail. The letter contains great news; you’ve just inherited $1,440 per day for the rest of your life. The only stipulation is that you must spend all of that money every day. I’m sure you would sit down and plan carefully how you were going to spend all of the money. You wouldn’t want to waste any of it.

Every morning of our lives we are given something more valuable than money-1,440 precious minutes. And as someone has said, “Life is like a coin. You can spend it anyway you want, but you can only spend it once.” Time is the great equalizer. No one, rich or poor, has more or less than anyone else. The choice of how  we spend our time each day is one of the most important decisions we will make in life.

As women on the journey we daily choose to use our time either wisely or unwisely. We are all tempted to waste our time and fill our days with behaviors that don’t count for the “kingdom”. Just as we would carefully plan how to spend our $1440 per day, so we must carefully plan how we will use our minutes that will count for the “kingdom”.

Thought:  Today, I choose to “spend” my precious minutes wisely.
